How to Apply: International Undergraduate Applicants

A step-by-step guide on how to apply to Laurentian University for future international undergraduate students.

Note: If you're an international student currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, you must apply on the Ontario Universities' Application Centre (OUAC). Click the following link to learn how to apply and about the Ontario High School Students Admission Requirements.

1. Choose a program and check your admission requirements

The first big step of the application process and your post-secondary future is finding the perfect program for you!

Once you’ve found a program you’re interested in, check the Admission Requirements section on the program page to make sure you’re eligible to apply and will meet all of the prerequisites.

In addition to the individual program admission requirements, you must also make sure you meet the country-specific admission requirements, faculty requirements, and language requirements for your program.

Note: The Architectural Studies program also requires a portfolio and statement of interest. For more information, visit the Admission Requirements section of the program page.

2. Apply online through our International Application form

Once you've decided on one or more programs, you must complete the International Application form and pay the associated fees.

The application deadlines depend on when you plan to begin your studies.

You did it! You’ve applied to Laurentian! Within a few days of completing your application, you will receive an email from the Office of Admissions with your Laurentian student number and a link to the myLaurentian Portal, where you’ll manage your application.

Log in to the portal, and in the Documents folder, review your acknowledgement letter. The letter provides further instructions on completing your application.

Continue to check the portal regularly to:

  • View new messages and documents sent by us
  • Track the progress of your application
  • Upload any required documents, such as your academic transcripts and language proficiency test scores

Note: Documents uploaded to the myLaurentian Portal will be used for admission decision purposes only and are not considered official. You will be required to provide official documents if you receive and accept a conditional offer of admission.

Didn’t receive an email? Check your spam folder or send us an email at info@laurentian.ca.

4. Accept your offer of admission and pay the tuition deposit

Once your application is reviewed, a decision letter will be posted in the myLaurentian Portal in the Documents folder. This letter will tell you whether you received an offer of admission. Read the offer carefully, as you might receive a conditional offer or an alternate offer.

To accept your offer, log in to the myLaurentian Portal.

To reserve your place in your chosen program and receive your Letter of Acceptance (LOA), submit the tuition deposit as outlined in your Offer of Admission. Read the tuition deposit policy.

5. Apply for a study permit

A study permit is an immigration document that gives you status and permits you to live and study in Canada. You must have a study permit if your program or course of study takes more than 6 months to complete.

Note: You must have a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) from the university to apply for a study permit. The LOA will be published once you have confirmed your acceptance and paid your tuition deposit.

6. Meet your offer conditions and submit documents

If you received a conditional offer, read your offer letter carefully and be sure to meet all of the conditions and submit all necessary documents by the deadlines indicated on page two, or your offer will be rescinded.

Some of the documents you may be required to submit include:

  • Official transcripts
  • Course descriptions for advanced standing
  • Language proficiency test scores

For more information about admission conditions and to learn how to submit documents, see the Types of Offers and Meeting Your Offer Conditions page.
