Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a meal plan?

Dining plans provide cost savings on each one of your meals, fast and convenient service at the cash, a greater and fresher food variety through bulk purchase, and guaranteed meal output. In addition, marché-style dining at the Great Hall guarantees you will leave satisfied with its all-you-wish-to-eat service approach.

How do I use my OneCard to pay for meals?

Great Hall

At the Great Hall, provide your OneCard to the cashier and they will swipe it. If you purchased a meal plan, each swipe will count as a meal purchased.

If you loaded Flex Dollars onto your OneCard instead of purchasing a meal plan, the cost of your meal will be deducted from the balance on your card.

Other locations on campus

When you make a purchase at other food locations on campus, whether you purchased a meal plan or loaded Flex Dollars onto your OneCard, the cost of your meal will be deducted from the balance on your card.

How long does my meal plan last? Does it expire?

If you live in residence and purchased a mandatory meal plan, your meal plan is valid for the current academic year, beginning the first week of September until the end of April.

If you purchased an optional meal plan and you live off-campus or in a residence that does not require a meal plan, your meal plan does expire and will be honoured to the extent of the purchase agreement.

What are Flex Dollars?

Flex Dollars are dollars you load onto your OneCard that can be used to purchase meals at any Chartwells service location on campus.

When you purchase a residence meal plan, you will automatically have Flex Dollars loaded on your OneCard. With every purchase, the total price is subtracted from the balance on the card until depleted.

Where can I use Flex Dollars?

You can use Flex Dollars at any Chartwells service location on campus, including the Cravings convenience store, Tim Hortons, and Subway.

How can I change my meal plan?
