Housed with the Centre for Academic Excellence, Laurentian’s English Language Institute (ELI) strives to assist second language learners in acquiring, integrating, and refining the English language skills necessary for post-secondary academic success. ELI has been providing second language instruction to students from around the world for over fifteen years. Our TESL qualified instructors, small class sizes and on-going support outside of the classroom provide students with a personalized approach.

The academic year is divided into three terms:
- Fall (September)
- Winter (January)
- Spring/Summer (May)
Students can begin at the Laurentian English Language Institute at the beginning of any term throughout the year.
The English Language Institute’s core academic program provides students with the skills necessary to begin studies at Laurentian University.
Our program instructors:
- Are TESL qualified, with some holding Master’s Degrees
- Are dedicated professional whose deliver dynamic lessons that are student focused
- Hold regular office hours to meet with students one-on-one
- Provide regular feedback and assessment of student work in a timely fashion to allow for growth and support
