The Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning

The Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning (CTCL) works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to develop, offer and evaluate culturally sensitive, bilingual and tricultural lifelong learning opportunities (both for credit and non-credit) for residents of northeastern Ontario and beyond. It also provides comprehensive support for institutional quality assurance and curriculum development alongside pedagogical innovation at Laurentian University.

Educational Development

With its educational development programming, Laurentian’s Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning provides guidance to individual faculty members, programs, and academic support units in developing inclusive and innovative pedagogical practices. The goal of educational development at Laurentian is to support faculty in the continual development of their teaching practices, to foster a strong institutional teaching culture, and, ultimately, to enhance the student experience.

Office of Institutional Quality Assurance

Laurentian University’s Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) provides the framework for approval of new academic programs, major modifications to programs and cyclical reviews of existing programs.

To assist with your program’s IQAP, the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance offers various services including:

  • Individual consultations The Manager of Institutional Quality Assurance will meet with your program representative(s) to assist with the IQAP.
  • IQAP workshops: Workshops are offered annually to faculty and staff from programs that are undergoing their cyclical reviews. These workshops will provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about the review process, receive information about potential resources and ask questions.
