Language Learning Centre (LLC)

Welcome to Laurentian University's Language Learning Centre (LLC), where we foster communication, understanding and mutual respect among our diverse students, staff and community. The LLC is part of the Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning under the management of the Micro-credential and non-credit programming team.

Mission:

The Language Learning Centre (LLC) connects a diverse community of learners with the official languages of Laurentian University, French and English, promoting their acquisition and improvement within the University's bilingual and tricultural learning community. Rooted in this mission, and addressing a diverse community of learners, with particular priority given to francophones and learners wishing to perfect their French, the CAL offers innovative and high-quality language training. Thanks to qualified and expert trainers, rich and dynamic teaching resources, and an interactive approach, we contribute to the academic, professional, and personal development of learners, strengthening their ability to become the leaders of tomorrow and to make a positive impact on their journey and their contribution to a connected society.

Become the centre of choice and a hub of innovative and dynamic excellence for language learning and mastery, deeply rooted in Northern Ontario's identity and Laurentian University's unique bilingual and tricultural mission. Through a scientific, learner-centred approach, we will create an inclusive and multicultural space where every learner thrives and confidently develops the language skills to interact effectively, contribute to a connected world, and become effective communicators and leaders. We aspire to be a key and essential partner, building connections within the university and with the wider community, particularly Northern Ontario's Francophone and Indigenous communities. We will be a driver of excellence in the development of official languages, reflecting the values and resilience of our region and actively contributing to linguistic vitality.
