The Goodman Gold Challenge (GGC)

The Goodman Gold Challenge is the first competition of its kind, stepping away from the paper-based case study and offering students a hands-on experience taken straight from the investment industry.

Students will evaluate the investment potential of three mining companies currently trading on the TSX or TSX-V and recommend to their top tier clients a single company for their portfolio.

Their performance could win their team shares worth the equivalent of four (4) ounce of gold.

MineOpportunity Games

The MineOpportunity Games offer a unique blend of education and entertainment to provide students in grades 9-12 with valuable insights into careers within the mineral resources industry. During the game, company partners have the opportunity to engage with high school students (French and English), guiding them through challenges and activities focused on mining technology, engineering, geosciences, environmental sustainability, business, health and safety, corporate social responsibility, and more.

Electrifying the Future

Laurentian University’s Goodman School of Mines (GSM) and Science North are partnering to provide this STEM-focused programming to kids at a variety of community events. The program integrates GSM’s Electrifying the Future workshops which feature STEM activities from the earth to the automobile and Science North’s Summer Science Days which are day programs about green technology, conducted in a camp-like setting.

The comprehensive approach to program delivery makes it possible for more than 1600 youth from underrepresented communities across Northern Ontario to learn some fundamentals of science, technology and engineering.
