Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Business Manager of the Faculty of Education and Health, the incumbent will be responsible for, in regular consultation with others internal and external to the school, organizing and coordinating undergraduate acute and non-acute nursing clinical placements.
- Explore potential clinical placement sites in consultation with faculty and undergraduate program coordinators;
- Facilitate and update access to current and emergent acute and non-acute clinical learning environments located in local and provincially;
- Outline and verify submitted student mandatory clinical documents prior to the start and during clinical;
- Ensure contracts with clinical placement sites are current and if required, initiate new or renew contracts with multiple community partners;
- Provide timely written confirmation of placements about start and end dates, location, hours and clinical placement site details, including orientation to respective French or English Clinical Praxis Coordinators;
- Attend meetings addressing undergraduate student clinical education held within and outside of the school;
- Establish, maintain and manage the database of student clinical records (InPlace) for both nursing programs in the school;
- Coordinate and provide accurate details about 4th year clinical placements in a timely manner;
- Advising on agencies’ student expectations and policies/procedures for the planning and sustaining of clinical partnerships;
- Guide agencies about MTCU/WSIB Work Education Placement information. Acting as the main point of contract regarding all WSIB clinical inquiries;
- Coordinate activities to support students’ access to mandatory records (Mask Fit, CPR certification, Meditec training);
- Ensure updated and accessible records for a range of clinical placement purposes and decision-making;
- Establish and maintains respectful relationships with internal and external clinical stakeholders; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree: Nursing degree (preferred), a Master’s degree in Nursing (an asset), or a Master’s degree in a related discipline such as health, social sciences, or education;
- Three (3) to five (5) clinical and administrative nursing experience;
- Familiarity with the health system;
- Experience in software programs or databases (ie. InPlace);
- Knowledge of the Nursing curriculum and policies and procedures;
- Knowledge relevant to clinical and community health learning environments;
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
- Excellent interpersonal communication (verbal and written) skills;
- Proficient in the use of e-information systems; and
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
