Biography
Dr. Nick Vayenas received a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens in Greece in 1985 and his Ph.D in the field of mining automation from Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden in 1990. He is presently Professor in the School of Engineering at Laurentian University in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He is the head and founder of the Laurentian University Mining Automation Laboratory (LUMAL).Education

Research
Dr. Vayenas' research interests are in the field of technology management, application of advanced mining technologies, discrete-event simulation with three-dimensional animation of mining systems and in the field of maintenance analysis and reliability assessment of mobile equipment.Awards
