This course focuses on the design of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) used in underground mining. The history of development, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of, current BEV designs are reviewed. The course then analyzes the intricacies of design features and processes for new designs: battery chemistries, traction motors, charging systems, mine layouts, chassis design onboard systems.
