Advanced Materials Handling

This course reviews materials handling calculations for various rock handling systems utilized in mines. Recent developments in materials handling technologies are presented and discussed. Novel materials handling and rock excavation techniques and recent advances in design methodology are covered in detail. The engineering principles, processes and impact of the various rock handling techniques on production operations are discussed within a mine design context. Actual mining materials handling situations are given as major assignments for the students to work on and this forms the basis for assessment.
