Advanced Aqueous Electrometallurgy
The course comprises an advanced treatment of the principles and applications of aqueous electrochemistry in extractive metallurgy, with particular analysis of the thermodynamic and electro-chemical kinetic phenomena in aqueous electrowinning and electrorefining of metals. Novel technologies and recent advances in research and development in the field are reviewed and industrial electrowinning and electrorefining practices for metals of regional interest, such as nickel, copper, cobalt, zinc and precious metals, are discussed with examples from operating plants.
