Micro-Credential

Through exploring a variety of scientific and community resources, as well as practical exercises, this course: enhances curiosity and confidence about growing microgreens, improves access to nutrient dense foods, promotes a greater understanding of biological principles and shares knowledge about fundamental concepts of functional nutrition.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the nutritional benefits of microgreens

  • Better understand growth enhancing and growth inhibiting factors for seed germination and early growth

  • Better understand an array of choices for materials and other considerations for growing microgreens at home

  • Successfully grow trays of easy-to-grow microgreens

  • Better understand plant physiology and principles of biology

  • Engage in conversations about northern local food and farming systems with course-related information
