Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Service Excellence, the HRIS and Compensation Specialist will serve as the primary contact and power user for all HRIS related matters, including reporting, automation, auditing, system administration, etc. The successful candidate will work closely with all stakeholders, such as IT and Finance, to ensure the integrity and reliability of HR data and reporting. As a member of the Human Resources and Organizational Development team, this position is responsible for recommending compensation and HRIS solutions in support of the business and strategic objectives of the University.
The successful candidate will:
- Liaise and partner with stakeholders to identify data and metrics requirements. Oversee the design and execution of reporting and analytics strategy.
- Partner with IT, Finance, Advancement and other system users on new integrations and enhancements as well as to maintain data integrity and security.
- Analyze HRIS performance metrics and resolve application and system issues.
- Review and improve existing HRIS processes, functionality and workflows to reduce and eliminate manual processes.
- Ensure proper data integrity and audit controls to achieve high quality and reliable HR data.
- Coordinates and actively participates in project development including research, design, testing and implementation of new modules.
- Implements enhancements to provide efficient, timely and accurate compensation reports.
- Assist the HR team and other stakeholders by researching and resolving unique data and reporting requests.
- Conduct market surveys and provide guidance and recommendations with respect to compensation structure and strategy.
- Provide reporting and analysis regarding ongoing compliance with Pay Equity Act and other applicable legislation.
- Participate in the Job Evaluation process and serve as a resource for committee members by providing direction and guidance on compensation principles.
- Provide information for the purposes of sector wide surveys and legislative reporting.
- Provide data and reports to stakeholders.
- Perform other duties directly related to this role as assigned .
Qualifications
- University degree in Human Resources, Computer Science, or another relevant field. Equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years in an HRIS Administration, compensation, job evaluation or similar role.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to help others determine the information that is needed
- Hands-on experience with databases and HR software demonstrating digital dexterity.
- Strong understanding of policy and legislative requirements relating to compensation.
- Good judgment relating to job assessment.
- High attention to detail, accuracy and excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to work fluently (orally and in writing) in both official languages, French and English, is a requirement for this role.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
Effective May 1, 2022 the Policy and Program on COVID-19 Vaccination are placed in abeyance. This means the Policy and Program on COVID-19 Vaccination are paused at this time; however, they are not canceled and could be reinstated at a future date if public health conditions warrant it, or through guidance from federal, provincial or local public health authorities. The evolution of the virus and the course of the disease activity are difficult to predict and it may be necessary to reinstate the Policy in full or in part, on short notice. When the Policy and Program on COVID-19 Vaccination are paused, persons entering Laurentian’s campus will no longer be required to provide proof of vaccination in order to attend campus.
