The Office of Campus Safety is seeking to fill five (5) vacancies : Three (3) Part-Time Four (4) Full-Time This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and/or hours of work, and is comprised of 40 hours per week. This may include evenings and/or weekend shifts. Applicants must be willing to work shift work.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, the successful candidate will provide a higher level of security, fire protection, and health and safety to all students, faculty, staff and visitors, as well as the protection of property.
- Enforce laws and regulations on campus;
- Direct traffic and enforce traffic regulations;
- Investigate complaints, offences and traffic accidents;
- Conduct security and fire patrols of campus buildings and grounds;
- Perform traffic and crowd control at special events;
- Supply information to the general public of a regulatory and directional nature;
- Provide first-response emergency assistance;
- Provide money escorts, collection, maintenance of machines and delivery to the Treasury Department;
- Maintain parking equipment;
- Provide monthly inspections of emergency phones, parking lots and elevators;
- Submit reports concerning assigned activities; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- College diploma preferably in Law and Security
- Two (2) to three (3) years of security or police experience
- In possession of a current Ontario Security Guard license;
- In possession of a current “G” Ontario Driver’s license in good standing;
- In possession of a driver’s abstract in good standing;
- Ability to work at the Ramsey Lake location and the McEwen School of Architecture;
- Good health and physical condition;
- Ability to work independently;
- Excellent written, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR ‘C’ with defibrillator training; and
- Ability to work fluently, orally and in writing, in both official languages, French and English, is required.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
