Responsibilities
Vacancy Status: New position
Reporting to the Manager, International Recruitment, the International Enrollment Clerk will be a home-base recruiter, as well as a support to the Office of Admissions. The primary purpose for this position is to have a thoroughly trained, on-campus recruiter (programs, academic counselling, services, processes, etc.) who works with prospective international students and responds to their inquiries. The position also supports the International Recruitment Coordinators, In-Country Representatives, agents, and assists the Office of Admissions in follow-ups and day-to-day work to ensure completed applications are submitted for review. The International Enrollment Clerk works with all prospective applicants and prospective students and is their first point of contact.
Respond to application related inquiries
- Communicate information about Laurentian University’s program offerings, admissions processes, and related services to prospective students and agents through phone calls and emails.
- Maintain ongoing records of interaction between inquirers and Laurentian University.
- Conduct follow-ups related to missing documentation.
- Assist Admissions Clerks and Admissions Officers with data management
In person or online, counsel prospective applicants, as well as prospective students
- Arrange and conduct in-person meetings or online meetings with prospective applicants and prospective students or their agents;
- Assist the Recruitment Coordinator in following up on leads gathered from the fairs and digital marketing campaign.
- Counsel prospective applicants and prospective students on appropriate courses of action for unique process-related requests;
- Counsel prospective applicants and prospective students or their agents on appropriate timelines and processes for related prospective services, appropriate to their individual needs.
- Travel internationally or domestically for recruitment events at the request and with the approval of the manager
- Assist Faculty members and other Laurentian University personnel with inquiries on specific applicants
Database Management
- Using applicant data, update records in an ongoing manner to keep prospective students moving towards enrollment in a timely fashion
- Assist in the evaluation and identification of fraudulent documentation
Conduct in person / online presentations for prospective applicants and prospective students
- At Faculty request and Manager approval, conduct Laurentian-related presentations for special events;
- Present process and program-related content to visitors at scheduled events.
- Conduct specialized online presentations related to Laurentian University
- Maintain, or committed to creating, an equitable diverse and inclusive working environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Undergraduate Degree, preferably from Laurentian University.
- One (1) to three (3) years of related experience.
- Database management;
- Excellent time-management;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe, preferred;
- Experience with Colleague Student Information System and SugarCRM;
- Public speaking and presentation training, as well as presentation experience;
- Familiarity with Laurentian University, preferred;
- Ability to travel internationally and visit community organizations as required;
- Ability to work non-traditional hours to attend online fairs or events.
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
