Responsibilities

Vacancy Status: New position

The bilingual Video Content Creator at Laurentian University, plays a pivotal role in driving engaging marketing content aimed at our postsecondary audiences and stakeholders in the University’s extended catchment markets, ensuring that content is accessible to a wide range of viewers, including our international students and those with disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to create engaging content to promote our programs, services and student experiences while ensuring AODA compliance for a seamless experience for all.

Video Creation:

  • Conceptualize, script, and storyboard video content in both English and French, catering to our bilingual audience.
  • Identify and coordinate talent and staging.
  • Produce high-quality video content, including shooting, editing, and post-production tasks.

AODA Compliance:

  • Stay up-to-date with AODA regulations and guidelines, ensuring our videos meet the necessary accessibility standards.
  • Implement closed captioning, transcripts, and audio descriptions as required to make our videos accessible to all viewers.
  • Ensure proper contrast, font size, and readability of text in videos.
  • Test and validate videos for accessibility, making necessary adjustments.

Bilingual Proficiency:

  • Translate and adapt content between English and French, maintaining the same message and tone in both languages.
  • Provide bilingual voiceovers or subtitles as needed.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with Schools, departments and units to develop and onboard on video conceptualization for goal optimization.
  • Work closely with our creative and digital teams to ensure AODA compliance is seamlessly integrated into the production and distribution processes.
  • Collaborate with accessibility consultants or experts to enhance our understanding and implementation of AODA guidelines.

Performance & Quality Control:

  • Ensure appropriate file formatting (multi)
  • Secure relevant release approvals
  • Distribute video on multiple sites and platforms
  • Track and video performance on web platforms and promotional campaigns. Make regular performance/distribution recommendations and apply approved modifications.
  • Conduct regular audits of marketing’s video library to identify and rectify any accessibility issues, flag required updates or required video removal from channels as needed.
  • Maintain a keen eye for detail to ensure all videos are AODA-compliant from start to finish.

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in multimedia, film production, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in video creation, including shooting, editing, and post-production.
  • Expertise in AODA regulations and accessibility standards.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with video editing software and accessibility tools.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • A passion for creating content that is inclusive and accessible to all.
  • Ability to work fluently (orally and in writing) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
