OneCard

Your Student Card or Employee ID during your time at Laurentian

Your OneCard is your official identification card at Laurentian University.

Your OneCard is your official identification card at Laurentian University.

Your physical OneCard is the single most important piece of ID you possess during your time here at LU. It serves as a convenience card for many of the services available on campus and as identification for exams.

The front of the card features your photo, name, student association logo, and a barcode. All in-person students are required to have a physical OneCard for identification purposes. While OneCard is optional for Laurentian Online students, local Laurentian Online students may wish to have a physical card for access to the associated services. Upon onboarding, remote students have the option to have their OneCard mailed to them. Your OneCard is intended to last your entire period of study at Laurentian University.

Services

Printing

One of the most common uses for OneCards is printing. With a tap of your card, you can print your queued jobs from any printer on campus. For more information on how to print using your OneCard, click here.

Access

Certain areas on campus are access-controlled using the OneCard. To enter, simply tap your card on the black pad near the door and wait for the indicator light to turn green.

Residence: As a student living in residence, your OneCard will be automatically programmed to unlock the doors to the residence buildings. If you live in Residence and your OneCard does not unlock the doors, please inform the Residence Office at residence@laurentian.ca.

SGA Student Centre: SGA students can use their OneCard to access the SGA Student Centre.

Laurentian Athletics Fitness Centre: All students have automatic OneCard access to the Fitness Centre. Staff and faculty who purchase access will be given door access through their OneCard.

Dining on Campus

Anyone can use their OneCard funds to make food purchases on campus. If you have purchased a meal plan, your OneCard will be automatically activated for admission to the Great Hall. Flex dollars are also added to your OneCard and can be used at any food-service location on campus.

Read more about food services for more information about meal plans or flex dollars.

Public Transit

Members of the SGA and GSA, who are studying on a full-time basis, have a U-Pass automatically integrated into their OneCard, providing access to the Greater Sudbury Transit System (GOVA) from September to April (inclusive). All you have to do is swipe to get on the bus! The AEF is not a part of the U-Pass agreement. AEF students may purchase a student transit pass through GOVA.

For help planning your transit trip, consult the GOVA routes and schedules.
If you are having issues using your OneCard on public transit, please contact the myLaurentian Hub at hub@laurentian.ca or by calling (705) 675-1151 x3463.

Library Loans

Your OneCard allows you to borrow resources from the libraries across campus.
If you are having issues using your OneCard to borrow resources from the library, please contact the J.N. Desmarais Library at library@laurentian.ca.

Frequently Asked Questions

I was asked to submit my government ID to upload a photo. Do you keep this?

No. The file is destroyed once your photo has been either approved or declined.

Can I use a digital copy of my licence or passport to pick up my OneCard?

No, original documents are required.

I lost my OneCard. What should I do?

Report your lost or stolen OneCard to the myLaurentian Hub as soon as possible. Since your OneCard is your ID for classes and exams, it cannot be duplicated, transferred, or used by another person. It must be reported missing and replaced immediately. Contact the myLaurentian Hub for help replacing your card. You may be charged a fee to replace a card.

If I lose my card, will I lose the money in my account?

No, your funds remain in your account. Please note that a lost card should be reported immediately so no one can access your account without your knowledge.

What happens to the money in my account at the end of the year?

Your OneCard account balance does not expire and will automatically carry over to the following year.

Can I activate my U-Pass during the summer months if I’m taking spring or summer courses?

The U-Pass is a student association program. It is only active for full-time SGA and GSA students during the Fall/Winter academic terms. Please direct any other questions to your student association or the City of Greater Sudbury transit service.
