How To Apply: Part-Time Undergraduate Applicants

Part-time undergraduate studies at Laurentian University give you the flexibility to pursue your degree while balancing work, family, and other life commitments. Follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to apply to an undergraduate program as a Canadian part-time student or a non-degree student.

Important:

1. Choose a program and check your admission requirements

The first big step of the application process and your post-secondary future is finding the perfect program for you!

Once you’ve found a program you’re interested in, check the Admission Requirements section on the program page to make sure you’re eligible to apply and will meet all of the program prerequisites.

If you would rather take individual courses than a full program, you can apply as a part-time student without declaring a degree. To be admitted as a non-degree student, you must show proof of completion of an undergraduate degree program.

Note: In addition to the program prerequisites, the Indigenous Social Work program requires additional documents as part of your application. For more information, visit the Admission Requirements section of the program page.

2. Apply online through the Ontario University Application Centre (OUAC)

Once you’ve decided on one or more programs, create an account on the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC) website and then complete the part-time undergraduate application form.

If you’re applying as a student without declaring a degree, select Non-Degree instead of a program in the OUAC portal.

Deadlines for all programs (except for programs with specific deadlines):

  • September / Fall entry - August 1st
  • January / Winter entry - December 1st
  • May entry - April 1st

Program-specific deadlines:

  • Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (September entry only) - March 16th
  • Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work (May entry only) - January 26th

Note: Applications received after the deadlines will be considered for the next available entry.

3. Log in to the myLaurentian Portal

You did it! You’ve applied to Laurentian! Within 2 days of completing your application, you should receive an email from the Office of Admissions with your student number and a link to the myLaurentian Portal, where you’ll manage your application.

Log in to the portal, and in the Documents folder, review your acknowledgement letter. The letter provides further instructions on completing your application.

Continue to check the portal regularly to:

  • View new messages and documents sent by us
  • Track the progress of your application
  • Submit any required documents (if you’re not a current high school student)

Didn’t receive an email? Check your spam folder or send us an email at info@laurentian.ca.

4. Accept your offer of admission

Once your application is reviewed, a decision letter will be posted in the myLaurentian Portal in the Documents folder, which will tell you whether you received an offer of admission.

The admission decisions will also appear in the portal, where you can with an option to accept or decline the offer.

Read the offer carefully, as you might receive an early conditional offer or an alternate offer.

The Office of Admissions will process your response accordingly.

Meet Your Offer Conditions and Submit Documents

If you received a conditional offer, read your offer letter carefully and be sure to meet all of the conditions and submit all necessary documents by the deadlines indicated on page two, or your offer will be rescinded.

Some of the documents you may be required to submit include:

  • Official transcripts
  • World Education Services (WES) course-by-course evaluation
