The awards on this page are tailored specifically to graduate students. However, there are many general donor-funded awards that you may be eligible for.
Laurentian University Graduate Scholarships and Bursaries
Dean's Entrance Scholarship
The Dean's Entrance Scholarship is allocated by the Deans of each Faculty to a limited number of meritorious students. This scholarship is awarded automatically and requires no application. The number of Scholarships as well as their value may vary based on the availability of funds. Scholarships are normally awarded in the Fall term.
Value:
- Master's: $1,500
- Doctoral: $3,000
Various Graduate Donor-Funded Awards
Applications for the Fall 2026 Donor-Funded Awards are now officially open. All students currently registered in a graduate program during the competition period are eligible and encouraged to apply.

Scholarships for All Graduate Students (External)
Autism Scholars Award
For Canadian and Permanent Resident students at both the master's and doctoral levels who are completing their research on the topic of autism.
The program offers up to two one-year awards of $18,000 at the master’s level, and up to three one-year awards of $20,000 at the doctoral level.

Council of Ontario Universities Programs in Nursing (COUPN)
The awards are presented to Ontario nursing faculty, students and health programs partners.

John Charles Polanyi Prizes
The Ontario Government established a fund to award John Charles Polanyi Prizes annually to up to five outstanding researchers or scholars who are in the early stages of their careers and at Ontario universities. The prizes, each of which is valued at $20,000. They are available in the areas of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Economic Science, broadly defined.

Canada Research Training Awards Suite – Research Travel Supplements
For students who currently hold a master’s or doctoral award from CIHR, NSERC or SSHRC.
Valued at $9,000

Ontario Graduate Scholarship - OGS
Application for the Fall 2027-2028 Ontario Graduate Scholarship is now officially open!
Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) is a merit-based scholarship available to both master's and doctoral students who are or will be enrolled in full-time studies for the 2027/2028 academic year.

Ontario Women’s Health Scholars Award
For Canadian and Permanent Resident students at both the master's and doctoral levels who are completing their research on the topic of women's health.
For the academic year 2026-27, the program offers up to:
- Two one-year awards of $25,000 (plus a research allowance of $1,000) at the master’s level;
- Three renewable one-year awards of $35,000 (plus a research allowance of $2,000) at the doctoral level; and
- Two one-year awards of $50,000 (plus a research allowance of $5,000) at the postdoctoral level.

Vince Catalli Grant for Sustainable Architecture Innovation Scholarship
This grant supports market-ready innovation in sustainable architecture by recognizing a completed design or research project that is scalable, transferable, and demonstrates commercial potential.
Eligibility: Students enrolled in the final two years of a professional degree program at an accredited Canadian school of architecture.
Award: One annual grant of $5,000.
Deadline: April 19th
Arthur Erickson Travel Study Scholarship
Co-sponsored annually by the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA), the Arthur Erickson Family, and the Arthur Erickson Foundation, this scholarship supports transformative educational travel for graduating architecture students.
Eligibility: Open to students in their final semester of a degree program at an accredited Canadian graduate school of architecture.
Application Requirements: Submissions must include a comprehensive travel/study proposal.

CaGBC Scholarship for Sustainable Design and Research
Recognizes the two most outstanding thesis proposals in sustainable design and research from architecture students across Canada.
Eligibility: Full-time students in a professional Master of Architecture program at an accredited Canadian university or the RAIC Syllabus Program.
Award: Two annual awards of $5,000.

The Pierre Elliot Trudeau Foundation Scholarship - Doctoral
For doctoral students in the humanities and social sciences whose research relates to the themes of: Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, People and their Natural Environment.
The application period for the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation’s 2027 Scholarship is from September 1 to November 6, 2026.
Canadian and International students are eligible to apply via the portal.
