2025 Voyageur Summer Camps

Registration for 2025 Voyageur Summer Camps are open!

This camps features all of the best outdoor amenitites the North has to offer. The following activities offer an array of experiences that your child will never forget! This year, all camps will include both sports and outdoor activities. Your child will have the opportunity to either learn new sports or refine their skills in sports such as: soccer, basketball, badminton, volleyball, floor hockey, track and so much more. They will also participate in outdoor activities such as the challenge course*, canoeing, shelter building, wilderness survival, beach day*, watersports, knot tying/navigation and much more. In addition, every week will have a special theme such as pokemon, olympics and amazing race to keep kids entertained and to offer variety on a weekly basis.  

Ages: 6 to 11 years

Duration: All of our camps run from 9 am to 4 pm, but don't worry, you can drop off you little bundle of joy as early as 8 am and pick them up as late as 5 pm.

Price: $208 (4 days) - $260 (5 days)

Waiver: You will be required to sign a waiver upon checkout.

*Challenge Course: Our challenge course is a 50' high climbing tower that includes 13 different climbing routes as well as the very popular giant swing! Our ACCT certified staff will ensure safety throughout the entire experience and ensure that your child does not do anything that is beyond their height threshhold. We use the challenge by choice method which means that your child will decide how high they want to climb.

*Beach Day: Once a week, the camps will go down to the Nepawhin Beach for 2 hours. We bring out certified lifeguards and also provide PFDs for the novice swimmers. 

2025 Mini Voyageur Camp

Registration for 2024 Mini Voyageur Camps are now open!

Our mini voyageur camp is geared towards children 4 to 5 years old.  

In this camp, the children will still get to do what the grown ups get to do, but at their own pace. Activities will incorporate a blend of multi-sport camp, outdoor adventure camp and fun initiatives that will develop fine motor skills, teamwork and creativity. Activities will range from arts and crafts, basic sports, games in the gym, slip and slide, etc.  Most importantly, your child will be come home tired and want to go to bed early! 

Ages: 4 to 5

Basketball Camp

Description

Led by Laurentian University Voyageurs basketball varsity coaches and student-athletes from our women’s and men’s basketball teams, our weekly camp offerings include a mix of fundamentals, skills, and competition to ensure a week of both DEVELOPMENT and FUN!

Our camps follow Canada’s Sport for Life Long-Term Development in Sport & Physical Activity model, ensuring campers receive appropriate instruction for their age and stage. Whether your camper is new to basketball or looking to take the next big step in their development, Voyageurs Basketball Camps are the best way to foster their love of the game and equip them to achieve their goals!

Each day includes approximately three hours of basketball, with skill-focused drills, games, and exercises covering ball handling, passing, shooting, and defense. Coaches guide players through age-appropriate skill work while also incorporating team-based activities. At least once a week, one of our varsity coaches will lead a special basketball session, providing expert instruction to help campers refine their skills and elevate their game.

Beyond basketball, campers engage in exciting cross-training activities, including:

Swimming at the Beach – A fun way to cool off
Group Games & Activities – Keeping kids active and engaged
Weekly Themed Activities – The Amazing Race, Clash of Colours, Carnival, and more!

To top off an amazing week, Fridays include a pizza lunch and a free camp t-shirt!

What to bring

Players should bring indoor and outdoor shoes, a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat and athletic footwear.

Volunteer - Community Hours

Our camps are a great way to gain in-field experience.

If your child is in need of community hours, this is a wonderful experience to help facilitate our summer camps. Each volunteer is paired with one of our camp cousellors and will have the opportunity to choose the camp they are most interested in.

Camp highlights

Challenge Course

The challenge course is back after popular demand. The Tango Tower is designed to promote leadership, self-confidence, teamwork, communication and self-efficacy. This 50' tower is comprised of ground teambuilding activities, 13 different climbing routes and a giant swing. The entire experience is facilitated by a certified instructor with ACCT creditations.

Watersports

We offer watersports such as canoeing, kayaking and standup paddleboarding. The older participants will also get the opportunity to go on a full day canoe trip to perch lake with a shore lunch. Our facilitators have a certification through paddle Canada. 

Fishing

Fishing is a great activity for kids of all ages. Lake Laurentian is a great fisherie with perch and pike. From learning how to tie a fishing knot to selecting the right lure, participants will have the opportunity to catch the big one either from shore or from a canoe!

Facilities

Our facilities feature 4 full size gyms, a 200 m indoor track, 2 squash courts, a pool (currently closed),  a beach, a beach volleyball court, a challenge course, 4 tennis courts and 3 soccer fields.

Weekly Themes

Colour Wars

Get ready for an epic week of vibrant fun at our Color Wars-themed summer camp! Each day, campers will immerse themselves in a kaleidoscope of activities, starting with tie-dying shirts in their designated team colors. Led by dedicated counselors, teams will engage in spirited competitions, including flag and cheer making, exhilarating relay races, and the thrilling Island Protector game. The excitement continues with classic Tug-of-War battles and brain-teasing trivia challenges using whiteboards. It's a week of colorful camaraderie and unforgettable adventures!

Carnival week

Enjoy a day packed with games and fun, including Fortune Teller sessions, Bean Bag Toss, Face Painting, Target Toss, 'Tight' rope walking, and plenty of popcorn. With tickets to guide your adventures, it's a day of excitement and memories for all!

The Amazing Race

Kids will engage in a series of fun and educational activities, exploring different areas and challenges around Laurentian University. Along the way, they'll have the chance to meet and learn from local professors, making this a truly enriching experience. Get ready for a summer filled with fun, learning, and memorable moments!
