Minds and Morality Lab

Papers, Posters and Presentations

The games we play with children were designed to measure different aspects of their development and help us understand how they learn about the social world and moral behaviour.

Below you can find some posters we have presented at different conferences and some papers we have published in academic journals.

Posters

Considering Characters’ Character

Children’s intentional understanding and moral judgments of a character’s actions are influenced by whether that character is described as being nice or mean.

Check out the Considering Characters’ Character poster we presented at Society for Research in Child Development in May, 2025.

The Language of Intention

Children’s intentional understanding and moral judgments of a character’s actions are more sensitive when verbs that highlight these concepts are used.

Check out the Language of Intention poster we presented at Society for Research in Child Development in May, 2025.

Papers

Children’s Understanding of Lies

Children’s understanding and moral reasoning about lies depends on their understanding of other people’s minds.

Check out the Children’s Understanding of Lies paper we published about this in Developmental Psychology.

Measuring Executive Function

The way that we measure children’s Executive Function influences how well our measures work! In this paper we presented a better measure of Executive Function for young children.

Check out the Measuring Executive Function paper we published about this in Infant and Child Development.
