Community Design Studio

This optional graduate Design Studio, selected by each student, continues to examine architectural design within the context of 'community building.' The studio guides students towards the study of indigenous and vernacular practices of existing communities in an attempt to identify how architects bring their expertise of design to bear upon various community projects. Studio design problems are identified each year, building upon various community groups' needs and requests. Partnerships between faculty members and community groups form an integral part of this course. Students may not retain credit for both ARCH 5515 and ARCH 5505. PREREQ: None (design studio inst, lec, sem), cr 6 (Design Stream).
