William Edward Wilson

Ted Wilson is originally from Toronto and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies and a Bachelor and Architecture from the University of Waterloo. He developed curriculum and taught sustainable design courses for the Energy Management and Sustainable Building Technology program at Durham College, Whitby, Ontario Campus. He has also served as guest advisor for the Second Year Design Studio Building Science Workshops at the University of Toronto, John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture. He is a LEED accredited professional, Sustainable Building Advisor, and trained in Passivhaus design principles. Ted is a member of the Ontario Association of Architects where he is also Chair of the Sustainable Built Environment Committee (2017). In professional practice, he served as President of AECOM Canada Architects Ltd, holding licences to practice in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. He is also currently President of the Ontario Association of Architects.

Master Lecturer

Northern Buildings Database - This project involves the identification and documentation of sustainable buildings in Northern Ontario. Candidate buildings are selected on the basis of five criteria and are intended to serve as research sources for case studies and design studios undertaken at the McEwen School of Architecture. Criteria include:

- Creative Hospitality: the capacity for accommodating a range of programs

- Intrepid Preparedness: anticipation of challenging environmental circumstances

- Resourceful Utility: demonstration of integrated site and building design strategies

- Respectful Engagement: interest in sharing sustainable design experience

- Environmental Integrity: Success in demonstrating sustained environmental performance

Examples of projects documented to date include the Near North Enviro-Education Centre in Sundridge, ON, and the Headquarters of the Union of Ontario Indians in the Nipissing First Nation on the north shore of Lake Nipissing.
