Dr. Sheppard taught History at Nipissing, McMaster, and Laurentian universities and was also an IB instructor for both Theory of Knowledge and History at Upper Canada College. From 2004 to 2020 George was a member of the School of Education at Laurentian, where he taught History, Social Studies, Education and Schooling, the preparation course for the Initial Practicum, and Human Kinetics activity courses. He also helped coach the Voyageur men’s lacrosse team since its inception, and was the faculty advisor for the Voyageur Strength Club. Following a two-year period as Associate Dean for the faculties of Health and Education from 2014 until 2016, he returned as Director of the English-language School of Education from July 2017 to July 2019 (a position that he occupied first in 2010). He became professor emeritus in 2021.
