Navigating major grant applications doesn't have to be a solo effort. In this practical session, NSERC representatives break down what makes a standout application for the Canada Graduate Research Scholarship – Doctoral (CGRS-D) and Postdoctoral Research Awards. Stick around after the presentation to chat directly with NSERC staff and get tailored advice.

A Balancing Act: Navigating the Academy as an Indigenous Scholar
Presenter : Dr. Candace Brunette-Debassige
Navigating the academy requires more than meeting academic expectations - it demands holding our personal values, honouring family and community responsibilities, and actively confronting entrenched systemic barriers. Grounded in personal experience as an Indigenous scholar, Candace Brunette-Debassige will share candid reflections, practical strategies and lessons learned while finding their rightful place in the academy. While this session will be grounded in Indigenous experiences, the session will offer transferable tools for all scholars - particularly those from marginalized and underrepresented groups.

Research Week
What is Research Week?
Research Week is Laurentian University’s annual celebration of innovation and discovery! Typically taking place in March, this dedicated week highlights the incredible academic work and groundbreaking research being done across our campus.
For graduate students, it is the ultimate platform to showcase your findings, connect with fellow researchers, and sharpen your presentation skills through key events like the Graduate Student Research Symposium and the highly anticipated 3MT Competition.
