Laurentian Voyageurs Soccer begin 2026 Fall Campaigns

September 14, 2026– The Laurentian University Voyageurs Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams are officially back on the pitch, kicking off their 2026 Ontario University Athletics fall campaigns with renewed focus and ambitious program milestones.

Coming off summer training camps, both teams are approaching the new season with clear targets aimed at program growth, competitive culture, and postseason contention.

Men’s Program: Escalating the Playoff Push

For the Voyageurs Men’s team, the focus this fall is firmly on progression and taking another step forward as a program. Head Coach Brendan Teeling enters the season with a clear objective: improve on last year’s points total, become more consistent in key moments and put the Voyageurs in contention for a playoff spot.

“This season is about taking a clear step forward,” said Teeling. “Our first objective is to earn more points than last year and put ourselves right in the conversation for a playoff spot. If we can achieve that, anything beyond it is a bonus. We want to continue raising the standards of the program and build something that can compete consistently within the OUA.”

With a combination of returning players and new additions to the squad, the Voyageurs are focused on becoming more difficult to play against while developing a clear identity on and off the field. Tactical discipline, consistency and turning competitive performances into points will be central to the team’s approach throughout the season.

“We know progress won’t happen overnight. It’s about improving every week, competing for every point and making sure we are moving the program in the right direction. If we do those things consistently, we give ourselves an opportunity to be playing meaningful games when the playoff race comes down to the final weeks.”

Women’s Program: Laying the Foundation for Growth

The Voyageurs Women’s program enters an exciting new era under Head Coach Emily Porteous, who brings a fresh vision centred around athlete development, team culture, and competitive grit.

"This season, my focus is on building a culture of growth, respect, and confidence where our players feel safe to learn, compete, and enjoy the sport they love," said Porteous. "We want to be competitive and fight for success in everything we do, while understanding that building something strong takes time."

Porteous has established a practical benchmark for the team’s progress while instilling confidence in the depth of her roster.
