Full-Time Temporary Appointment until May 07, 2027 This position is designated as one that may require a different work week and/or hours of work, and is comprised of 40 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Vacancy Status : Existing position
Under the coordination of the Printing Production Coordinator (PPC) and reporting to the Manager of Business Development, the incumbent is responsible for organizing workflow to finishing, and preparing customer-ordered materials within the deadlines established by the PPC. The Printing Operator will maintain a clean and functioning work area, and ensure that the final product meets client specifications. Additionally, the incumbent will receive and respond to telephone, email and counter inquiries, process orders, and provide product information as needed. The incumbent works closely with the PPC on a regular basis, and performs other duties directly related to this position as assigned.
Responsibility 1: Customer Service
- Effectively communicate with clients on a daily basis over email, phone or in person, and answer any incoming inquiries, provide pricing based on existing price list.
- Enter work orders into the production system as per customer requirements
- Process manual payments for client orders (non-online orders), such as walk-ins and pick-ups
- Coordinate deliveries of print goods throughout campus with the assistance of the PPC
Responsibility 2: Finishing
- Finish and install various wide format substrates
- Responsible for cutting, folding, laminating and shrink wrapping as required by Work Orders
- Operates all binding equipment
- Completes project workflow as coordinated by PPC
Responsibility 3: Equipment Use
- Operates advanced copy equipment, including basic and specialty functions
- Prints, scans, or copies all submitted jobs in a timely manner and accurately
- Operate the Print Hub Xerox multifunction devices (color) and the wide format printers for print production in the absence of the PPC or when needed.
- Performs basic maintenance on-site equipment – includes but is not limited to changing tape rolls, changing ink cartridges, loading paper, replacing toner and/or staple cartridges, clearing jams.
Responsibility 4: Quality Control
- Inspect and examine printed materials for quality and accuracy, ensuring that they meet the client's specifications and requirements as set by the PPC;
- Properly distributes completed jobs
- Maintains a clean and organized site, including emptying recycling and garbage.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent
- Less than a year of relevant experience
- Two (2) to three (3) years of experience with customer service
- Basic knowledge of the Google platform, MS Office, Adobe and other production software
- Valid “G” Ontario Driver’s License and in good standing
- WHMIS certification
- Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
- Proven ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
