Responsibilities

Vacancy Status: New position

For twelve (12) months this position's main responsibility will be to focus on curriculum mapping and academic support in the Office of Institutional Quality Assurance under the functional supervision of the Manager, Institutional Quality Assurance. At the conclusion of this interim period, the need for full-time Quality Assurance support will be reassessed to determine whether the position transitions to the standard duties outlined in the posting.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning, the Educational Development Coordinator supports faculty, staff, and graduate students in the delivery of teaching support programs and instructional technology integration across the University. The incumbent facilitates training on pedagogical tools, Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles for Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance, and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) while providing resources in collaboration with Information Technology (IT) and Student Success. Additionally, the Educational Development Coordinator assists academic units with curriculum mapping for Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) reviews, mentors faculty on learning outcomes for program approvals, and maintains subject matter expertise through ongoing research and professional development. 

Faculty Training, Development & Consultation 

  • Develops and coordinates the delivery of instructor, course supervisor, and graduate student teaching support programs, including workshops and one-on-one consultations.
  • Develops, coordinates, and delivers internal information and training sessions on integrating instructional technology in courses, with a focus on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles for Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance and teaching with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). 
  • Develops training manuals, resources, videos, and tools to support staff, students, instructors, course supervisors, and tutors in collaboration with Information Technology (IT) and Student Success.
  • Maintains and communicates a schedule of training opportunities related to instructional technology for staff, faculty, and students to Human Resources (HR).
  • Communicates with and supports staff, online and hybrid instructors, course supervisors, tutors, and students regarding the use and integration of new technological tools used for course delivery.
  • Coordinates workshops and individual consultations regarding learning outcomes and curriculum mapping. 

Curriculum Mapping & Academic Support 

  • Assists academic units and faculty members with individual support for curriculum mapping for Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) review purposes.
  • Supports faculty members in the creation and revision of learning outcomes for courses and programs to support the approval process through the Council on English Language Programs (CELP), le conseil des programmes en français (CPF), and the Academic Planning Committee (ACAPLAN). 
  • Educates the broader university community about the importance of learning outcomes. 

Research & Educational Development

  • Continually acquires knowledge of evidence-based current practices with regards to educational development, AODA, and GenAI in teaching and learning at the post-secondary level.
  • Attends webinars, participates in online communities, and attends conferences related to educational development, AODA, and GenAI in teaching and learning. 

Other Duties 

  • Performs other duties within the professional scope and skill level of the position, in full compliance with applicable legislation, university policies, and collective agreements. 

Qualifications

  • Master's/Graduate Degree in Distance Education, Educational Technology or a related field. 
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in a distance learning and/or adult education context, directly related to the delivery of online/hybrid education materials or in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, attention to detail, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience in managing institutional records, adhering to retention policies, and ensuring data integrity.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team environment. 
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
