Why Families Choose Laurentian

Going to university or sending your child away to university is a major milestone. Here is why choosing Laurentian is a smart, reassuring choice for students travelling north from Southern Ontario.

Guaranteed Two-Year Residence

Ontario high school applicants enjoy complete peace of mind with guaranteed campus housing for your first two years. You'll settle into a secure, supportive, and close-knit community where it's easy to make lifelong friends from your first day on campus.

Automatic Scholarships

We reward hard work! High school students with an 80% or higher admission average automatically receive up to $20,000 over four years, with no extra applications required.

When you apply to Laurentian, we automatically calculate your admission average using your top six 4U/M marks to give you the highest possible award:

  • 95% – 100%: Up to $5,000 per year ($20,000 total over 4 years)
  • 90% – 94.9%: Up to $4,000 per year ($16,000 total over 4 years)
  • 85% – 89.9%: Up to $2,000 per year ($8,000 total over 4 years)
  • 80% – 84.9%: Up to $1,500 per year ($6,000 total over 4 years)

Outstanding Employment Rates

Our graduates have the highest post-grad employment rates in the province at 98%.

Plus, you’ll stand out in a competitive job market by choosing to take courses in English, French, or a flexible combination of both!

Smaller Classes, Bigger Impact

Trade 500-seat lecture halls for an average class size of just 29. You'll actually know your professors, score hands-on research opportunities in year one, unique internships and trips, and never be just a number.

A 765-Acre Playground

Hike, ski, or run on our on-campus trails. At Laurentian, you can literally launch a kayak on a clean lake right between your lectures.

A Vibrant Francophone and Indigenous Culture

Our tri-cultural spirit is at the heart of everything we do at Laurentian. You have the freedom to customize your degree in English, French, or a flexible combination of both. You can also explore courses rich with Indigenous content and learn Anishinaabemowin alongside a thriving Indigenous community with dedicated spaces, engaging events, and perspectives that enrich every field of study.
