Laurentian University Opens Fall Scholarship & Bursary Applications

Millions of dollars in financial assistance are available to Laurentian University students this fall, and campus leaders are issuing a direct call to action: take the time to apply.

September 29, 2026— Millions of dollars in financial assistance are available to Laurentian University students this fall, and campus leaders are issuing a direct call to action: take the time to apply.

Each year, Laurentian distributes over 10.5 million overall financial assistance awarded to students.

The fall application window officially opens on October 1 and closes October 31.

"There is support available to help ease the financial burden on our students, but we’re encouraging all students to take that step and apply," said Sue Lekun, Philanthropy Officer. "Many of these awards go unclaimed due to a lack of applicants, so we want to make sure these funds get directly into the hands of the students who need them."

These awards are made possible through university grants and the generous support of Laurentian's alumni and donor community, who are dedicated to helping students succeed throughout their academic journey.

Awards range from need-based bursaries and program-specific grants to graduate teaching assistantships and merit-based entrance awards. Students across all faculties, years, and levels of study are encouraged to explore their options early.

Key Information for Students:

Award Range: Individual awards range from $500 to $5,000+, alongside specialized graduate funding and provincial grants.
Increased Entrance Support: Laurentian has increased its entrance scholarships for newly admitted students starting in the Fall 2027 intake, offering the highest financial support in the province.
How to Apply via the myLaurentian Portal:
- Current Students: Watch your inbox for an email notification from the Financial Aid Office when applications launch. You can apply directly through the Processes tab within the myLaurentian Portal.
- New Applicants: Submit your applications via the Applicant view within the myLaurentian Portal.
How to Access: Log into the myLaurentian student portal to review eligibility and submit applications.
