Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Advancement, the Donor-Funded Awards Coordinator plays a key role in promoting visibility and awareness of bursaries and scholarships available to Laurentian University students. This position supports collaboration between University Advancement, the Student Awards Office, and the Office of Graduate Studies to enhance the success of bursaries and scholarship handouts, award literacy, streamline processes, and increase student access to financial support.

  • Promote bursaries and scholarships through recurring campus engagement (e.g., booths in the Atrium, presence at Frosh Week, Open House, varsity games, and other student events).
  • Organize and lead workshops to help students navigate the scholarship and bursary application process (“How to Apply” and financial literacy sessions).
  • Proactively visit classrooms and coordinate with faculty members to reach students directly.
  • Collaborate with various university departments to ensure equitable access to student funding.
  • Work with University Advancement and Student Awards to cross-reference funds and applications to ensure all eligible awards are being utilized and promoted.
  • Collaborate with the Transformation Team, Digital Strategy, and other university partners on award disbursement and donor stewardship initiatives.
  • Help develop and refine internal processes between Advancement and Student Awards.
  • Support the development and collection of Student thank-you letters for donor stewardship purposes.
  • Assist in reviewing the application and selection process for scholarships at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Provide support during donor conversations, particularly as they relate to gift agreements and award selection criteria.
  • Support other Advancement-led initiatives and departmental priorities as required.
  • Support the ongoing review and streamlining of the scholarship and bursary application process for both undergraduate and graduate students; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College diploma in a relevant field such as Communications, Public Administration, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience in student services, donor relations, or scholarship administration - demonstrating a proven ability to coordinate and collaborate with multiple interest groups.
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments, and engage with students and people outside of the University.
  • Demonstrates persistence and resilience in achieving goals.
  • Approaches obstacles with creativity and unwavering resolve until successful outcomes are achieved
  • Must be available to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and student engagement activities.
  • Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
