Biography

Dr. Jennifer Straub is currently a tenure-track professor in the School of Education. She holds a PhD in Education Studies from the University of New Brunswick. Her doctoral research used a phenomenographic approach to explore the cognitive frames that pre-service teachers held about citizenship. She has been a classroom teacher (OCT 1998) and Vice-Principal. She has also taught in the pre-service programs at the University of New Brunswick (2013) and Nipissing University (2008-2018). Most recently, Dr. Straub received a Recognition Award from The Canadian Society for the Study of Education/La Société canadienne pour l'étude de l'éducation: Canadian Association for Teacher Education (CATE) for her doctoral dissertation entitled Pre-service Teachers' Understanding of Citizenship. Jennifer is also the proud mother of a daughter in 3rd year Bio-Med B.Sc program at Laurentian University and of a son in grade 12 who will attend L.U. very soon!

Dr. Straub's research relates to Social Studies, Pre-service Teacher Education and Phenomenography.
