DEPARTMENT FACILITIES
Rehearsal Room, SE012. This is where most music classes are held. This room may also be reserved for student group practices.
Keyboard Room, SE106N. Can accommodate up to 15 students for Keyboard Labs. Also used for regular small classes, up to 6 students.
Practice Rooms in SE106. 10 rooms equipped with a piano, music stand, chair and mirror. Priority given to music students and, with permission from the department, to Laurentian Students.
Music Resource Centre, SE106C. Scheduled hours of opening or by request. The MRC houses all the music scores. Compact discs, audio cassettes, DVDs and video recordings are also part of our collection. However, all of the books on music and a substantial collection of vinyl recordings can be found on the 3rd floor of the Desmarais Library.
The music students area is located in the SE106 general area. This space invites our musicians to get together for quiet discussion and study. Lockers assigned to our students are also found in this area.
STORAGE
Music students have access to storage facilities for their large instruments in room SE-010. A key may be requested from our administrative assistant.
For smaller instruments and personal items, student lockers are located in our department main area. For a nominal fee, these may be rented from Student Services, from September to the end of April.
INSTRUMENTS
The Department has a very limited number of instruments for rent to our students.
Other instruments may be rented at the local Long and McQuade store located at 255 King Street in Sudbury, directions can be found here, or online with Cosmo Music http://cosmomusic.ca/services/pro-rental
