About Us

Body:

On behalf of the faculty, staff and current students of the Laurentian University Department of Political Science I welcome you to our webpage. Our department is bilingual and students have the opportunity to study in English, French or both languages to complete their degree. Our faculty is committed to undergraduate teaching and students benefit greatly from our small class sizes. Starting in first year your professors will know not only your name but your interests within Political Science. This gives us the ability to tailor our students' education more directly.

Our faculty produces world class research and are engaged in the local community and the discipline at large. We are often called upon to provide political commentary in local, national and international media as well as academic forums and community discussions. The Laurentian Political Science department holds one of the largest Model Parliaments in Canada every year. Students prepare bills and speeches and then travel to Parliament Hill and spend a day as a Member of Parliament in the House of Commons. This is an experience that students remember long past their time with us, with many students attending for 4 years straight and then returning as an alumni.

Please look through the information we provide on this site and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at mjohns@laurentian.ca or 1-855-675-1151 ext.6712.
