Responsibilities
University Advancement builds meaningful relationships that inspire our diverse stakeholders to engage with and invest in Laurentian University. The department oversees interactions with alumni, donors, and internal and external partners, fostering a strong culture of pride, loyalty, and engagement. With a focus on building trusted relationships with Alumni and Friends, University Advancement plays a crucial role in the university’s future.
Reporting to the Manager, Advancement, this individual will take a leadership role in engaging alumni, motivating them to support Laurentian’s goals and vision, while strategically guiding their transition from alumnito donors. Working as part of a collaborative team, the position reports to the Manager of Advancement, and assists with revenue-generating partnerships and alumni engagement efforts, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of the University Advancement department.
- Lead revenue-generation efforts related to alumni engagement, building affinity partnerships and supporting collaboration with external stakeholders;
- organize and actively participate in external engagement initiatives, including meetings with alumni and donors and attending networking events;
- serve as the liaison for meetings with faculties regarding associations and boards, facilitating communication and volunteer engagement to ensure alumni representation and participation;
- supporting call campaign initiatives such as segmentation strategies, setting goals for fundraising and engagement, and recruiting and coordinating student callers;
- analyze call campaign data to identify alumni for individual meetings or tailored cultivation strategies;
- drive alumni engagement by planning and executing various alumni-centered projects; responsibilities include event conception and planning, volunteer recruitment, address update campaigns, and relationship-building at events;
- initiate conversations, foster direct alumni connections, and actively attend events to ensure strong, personal engagement with alumni and stakeholders;
- utilize the university database to enter, extract, and interpret data;
- establish new alumni benefit partnerships to strengthen connections with Laurentian University’s alumni community;
- collaborate with other departments to engage alumni and donors, support event planning, and achieve engagement goals, including address updates and volunteer engagement;
- contribute to social media content focused on alumni engagement efforts;
- travel as required for outreach responsibilities;
- independently respond to correspondence, track and reconcile budgets and funds; and
- fulfill other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus two years of post-secondary education;
- three to five years of related coordination and administrative experience.
- experience in budget management and database maintenance, coding and pulling data using Ellucian is considered an asset;
- strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- proficiency in Google and Microsoft products;
- ability to prioritize multiple tasks with strategic and analytical skills;
- excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities;
- outgoing personality with a positive disposition that inspires others;
- ability to work independently and work well collaboratively with others;
- valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel requirements; and
- ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
