Educational Development Coordinator, Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning

Responsibilities
A specialist in instructional design and technology-enabled education best practices and design, the Educational Developer will support the Centre for Teaching and Continuing Learning units in all matters related to pedagogy in the classroom, particularly as they relate to AODA compliance and teaching with GenAI. The incumbent will be responsible for the coordination, development and delivery of teaching support programs aimed at supporting faculty and staff. The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Coordinator in supporting faculty and schools with curriculum mapping for IQAP and accreditation purposes.
Faculty training and development
- Develop and coordinate the delivery of instructor/course supervisor/graduate student teaching support programs (i.e. workshops, one-on-one consultations, etc.);
- Develop, coordinate and deliver internal information/training sessions on integrating instructional technology in courses with a special focus on UDL principles for AODA compliance and teaching with GenAI;
- In collaboration with IT and Student Success, develop training manuals, resources, videos or other tools to support staff, students, instructors/course supervisors/tutors;
- Maintain and communicate a schedule of training opportunities for staff, faculty and students related to instructional technology to HR; and
- Communicate with, and support staff, online/hybrid instructors/course supervisors/tutors and students with regards to the use of and integration of new technological tools used for the delivery of online/hybrid courses.
Assist faculty with curriculum mapping
- Provide individual support to academic units and faculty members with curriculum mapping for IQAP review purposes;
- Mentor faculty mentors in the creation of learning outcomes for courses and programs undergoing CELP, CPF and ACAPLAN approval;
- Educate the broader Laurentian community about the importance of learning outcomes; and
- Coordinate workshops and individual consultation regarding learning outcomes and curriculum Mapping.
Research and expertise in educational development and AODA and GenAI matters
- Expected to continually acquire knowledge of evidence-based current practices with regards to educational development, AODA and GenAI in teaching and learning at the post-secondary level; and
- Attend webinars, participates in online communities, attends conferences related to educational development, AODA and GenAI in teaching and learning.
Other duties
- Participate in CTCL team meetings and projects;
- Abide by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations, as well as the Health and Safety policies; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master Degree, in Distance Education, Educational Technology or a related field;
- Two to five years working in the field of Educational Development;
- Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in a distance learning and/or adult education context;
- Minimum of 2 years of experience directly related to the delivery of online/hybrid education materials;
- Formal education or demonstrated knowledge of educational development, curriculum mapping, AODA;
- Familiarity and demonstrated knowledge of GenAI tools, and their application and best practices in their use;
- Firm understanding and demonstrated use of instructional technology evidenced-based best practices;
- Significant experience in the use of technological tools used for teaching in-person, remote, hybrid and online;
- Strong research and professional writing skills;
- Excellent presentation skills;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills - deals efficiently and diplomatically with faculty, administrators, staff, course supervisors, graduate students, etc.;
- Strong knowledge of Adobe products, Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite;
- Self-motivated and ability to work under a minimum of direction;
- Ability to exercise good judgement and make sound decisions;
- Ability to think critically and to assess complex processes;
- Highly organized and efficient;
- Ability to deal with people of varying cultures and attitudes;
- Work under very stressful conditions (high volume, deadlines);
- Ability to set priorities;
- Ability to maintain a high standard of work during frequent interruptions and sudden changes from one project to another; and
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.
