Responsibilities

Reporting to the University Registrar and Acting Associate Dean, the Manager, Office of Admissions leads the development of and management of domestic and international admissions practices for Undergraduate and Graduate programs.  Other duties and responsibilities include advising students and applicants on admissions and programs, determining advanced standing credits, and establishing transfer/advanced standing credit policies.

  • Manage all processes related to the evaluation, admission and processing of applications, (undergraduate, graduate, full-time, part-time, domestic, and International) to Laurentian University;
  • Manage and remain competitive with the determination of eligibility for transfer credits; 
  • Manage the development and maintenance of the admissions component of the Datatel Student Information System and CRM; assure the accurate transfer of data to and from the Ontario Universities Application Center and other data sources;
  • Manage the continued development of operations within the office through Transformation initiatives;
  • Manage the operational, financial and personnel functions within the Office of Admissions;
  • Provide guidance and counsel on best practices and admissions trends to a wide range of constituencies including staff, faculty and senior leadership;
  • Represent Laurentian University by serving on university and provincial Admissions committees and related endeavours;
  • Verify the accuracy of applicant information and set the quality standard of information presented in admission-related publications and the Web; 
  • Hire, train and supervise staff;
  • Review employee performance and provide training and developmental opportunities; and
  • Manage projects sponsored  by the Registrar related to the admissions process.

Qualifications

  • A four-year Bachelor’s degree;
  • 3-5 years of  supervisory/management experience in a fast-paced post-secondary student affairs/student services environment;
  • A clear understanding of the University's mission, services, policies, and academic programs;
  • In-depth knowledge of business intelligence tools and enterprise management applications products including Datatel, Business Objects, and MyLaurentian;
  • Understanding of current technology and technical skills including creating and using Excel, Google Drive, Adobe, and the Laurentian website;
  • Understanding of provincial, federal and international education systems at the secondary, undergraduate and graduate levels;
  • Familiarity with college articulation, transfer policies and Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) for mature applicants;
  • Understanding of FIPPA regulations and ability to implement them in a university context;
  • Knowledge of Tableau data sets to drive admissions and strong analytical skills to drive decisions; and
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and French, with presentation skills to lead training sessions with administrative and academic stakeholders, and disseminate complex information in ways that are understood across the institution.

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
