Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Laurentian Online, this position exists to support faculty and community members in the development of asynchronous for-credit online courses as part of a team approach to course development. The successful candidate will act as project manager for assigned course developments (in English and in French), providing guidance and feedback to ensure the highest quality of learner-centered and interactive courses. The incumbent may also support subject matter experts creating non-credit micro-credential courses in either English or French.
- Work with content experts and peer reviewers to develop asynchronous online for-credit and non-credit university courses;
- Edit and update courses as new editions of textbooks and other resources become available;
- Work with the Online Course Technician(s) to ensure that courses have a student-centered approach and that they are easy to navigate and conform to accessibility (AODA) standards;
- Collaborate with the online course technician(s) and course content expert to assess and implement the most appropriate educational technologies;
- In conjunction with the content expert, create online assignments which are academically rigorous, engaging and learner-centered, as well as reflective of the learning outcomes;
- Assist the manager in the training of course facilitators with workshops in technology-enabled course delivery;
- Research and keep up-to-date on emerging technologies and pedagogies that have potential for use in both for-credit and non-credit and micro-credential courses; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (in Education, Instructional Design, Teaching with Technology or Distance Education);
- Two to five years of experience working in a post-secondary institution;
- Excellent written and verbal skills in French and English;
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a positive and supportive manner while adhering to strict deadlines;
- Creative and innovative thinker;
- Ability to put ideas into action;
- Attention to detail and excellent editing skills;
- Knowledge/experience of online learning (best practices, learning platforms, software etc.);
- Knowledge/experience of AODA and UDL principles for instructional design; and
- Ability to work fluently (verbal and written) in both official languages, French and English, is required.
THIS POSITION IS DESIGNATED AS ONE THAT MAY REQUIRE A DIFFERENT WORK WEEK AND/OR HOURS OF WORK.
The current Schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer hours), or Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (winter hours). Upon four weeks’ notice, the work week and/or hours of work may be changed. (This may include evening and/or weekend shifts.)
