Accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Canadian University Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CACUP-ASLP), this program aims to develop an in-depth understanding of the fundamental principles of nutrition and communication.
In class, you learn assessments and interventions for clients with various pathologies. The introduction to internships course allows you to simulate knowledge application in a safe environment. During community internships, you practice the profession of speech-language pathologist in an immersive environment. You may complete an internship at the Speech and Language Clinic on campus. Further, you have the opportunity to complete a research paper to better understand the issues in the speech pathologist’s scope of practice.
After receiving their degree, graduates are able to work in both French and English in the fields of health or education in Ontario (as a member of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario), Canada (as a member of Speech-Language & Audiology Canada), and abroad. Key Features
Career Opportunities
Employment prospects are excellent as the needs of the population increase. There is a real shortage of speech-language pathologists and health care services in Northern Ontario and in Canada in general. Since Laurentian University's program is offered only in French, with bilingual clinical education, several cohorts of Francophone and bilingual Speech-language pathologists will practice in Northern Ontario and elsewhere in the country, which will in turn improve access to speech therapy services in both official languages. Some professionals may also choose to teach, do research, management, etc.

Julia Bond, M.Sc.S. student (Speech-Language Pathology)
I am incredibly happy to have chosen to pursue not only my bachelor’s but also my master’s degree at Laurentian University. The bachelor’s program allowed me to strengthen my passion for speech therapy before moving toward the master’s degree. In addition, the professors in this program always go above and beyond for their students. I loved the bilingual nature of the program since I was able to learn about speech therapy simultaneously in French and English.
