This non-credit micro-credential program is open to individuals looking to pursue a career as an End-of-Life Doula. Upon completion of this program learners will be trained to care for someone and their loved ones holistically during end of life. Learners will be able to support someone during the end of life period as well as support family and friends after a loved one has passed. Learners will be able to empower, and educate those experiencing loss while supporting them through the decision making process.
At the end of the program, learners will be able to:
- describe the role and responsibilities of the End of Life Doula;
- demonstrate effective communication skills and etiquette;
- understand the complexities of grief;
- understand ethical and legal issues relating to end of life care including funeral practices.

- Approximate Micro-Credential Length: This micro-credential is 100 hours in length. Learners must complete four courses to obtain the micro-credential End-of-Life Doula. Upon completion of each micro-course learners can request a certificate of completion.

This course will examine the role of an End-of-Life Doula including but not limited to their scope of practice and role within the community.
This course will examine the definitions of grief, and mourning as well as misconceptions surrounding the dying process.
Explore a broad range of viewpoints pertaining to the concept of death and delve into the implications of cultural factors and their role in shaping individual attitudes and societal practices. Simultaneously, engage in an examination of personal beliefs, recognizing their interplay with broader cultural and societal constructs. Consider innovative care approaches in the field of end-of-life care as well as unconventional funeral practices, such as green burials or other eco-friendly options, in order to broaden the horizon of possibilities for commemorating departed loved ones.
This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills needed for end-of-life doula care, focusing on important ethical considerations, holistic approaches, and community engagement. Learners will be able to navigate ethical issues, provide comprehensive support that honors the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the dying, and build strong community networks to support individuals and their families during the final chapter of life.
