Patient Care II

This course builds upon the principles introduced in Patient Care I with a specific focus on the issues involved in providing care for oncology patients. The course provides the skillset fore entry into the clinical environment enabling professional interactions with the cancer patient, their family, and the multidisciplinary health care team. An emphasis is placed on the development of communication skills, patient assessment skills, and the intervention/management of radiation-induced acute side effects. The course is delivered by The Michener Institute of Education at UHN. PREREQ: Successful completion of all Year 2 courses in the Radiation Therapy Program. The course is only available to students enrolled in the joint Michener/Laurentian Radiation Therapy program. (lec 3, lab 3) cr 3.
