A History of Ontario's Forests

This course examines the history of forests in Ontario over the last 10,000 years. Topics include the changing human uses of trees from the pre-Contact period to the present, the virtual deforestation of southern Ontario, the rise of forestry, the birth and growth of the modern "environmental" movement, and the restoration of forest cover in the "wastelands" of southern and northern Ontario in the twentieth century.
