Advanced Solid Mechanics

This course examines the anisotropy of stress and the general equations of the theory of elasticity and thermoelasticity of an anisotropic 3D solid. The elastic equilibrium and boundary value problem formulations are also considered. The course provides a framework for modeling inhomogeneous composite solids, the effective moduli theory and the elasticity of laminated, as well as fiber-reinforced composites. The fundamentals of fracture mechanics and the applications of fracture mechanics to the mechanical design are addressed. (lec 3) cr 3.
