Principles of Pharmacology

Students will study various concepts dealing with how the body interacts with drugs. They will first learn the routes of administration for drugs based on physico-chemical properties. They will then be introduced to the basic concepts of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and drug distribution, metabolism and elimination. Finally, the mechanism of action of drugs on the central nervous, cardiovascular, renal, gastrointestinal, immune and respiratory systems, and toxicology of drugs will be reviewed.
