This comprehensive course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to support people with disabilities in the built environment. With a focus on compliance with legal requirements and promoting safe and inclusive workspaces, participants will gain valuable insights into implementing universal design principles to create environments that are accessible to all.
Throughout this course, participants will explore the various challenges faced by individuals with disabilities in navigating and engaging with the built environment. They will learn about relevant legislation and regulations, including disability rights acts and accessibility standards, to ensure their projects and workplaces meet legal requirements.
Participants will also delve into the concept of universal design, which emphasizes creating environments that are accessible, usable, and inclusive for individuals with diverse abilities. They will explore practical strategies for implementing universal design principles in architectural and interior design projects, as well as workplace settings.

- Delivery Method: Hybrid - Online and Zoom sessions
- Approximate Course Hours: 48 hours in 6 weeks, including two times weekly 3 hour Zoom sessions and 12 hours of self-paced online learning. Schedule of offerings is available below

You will earn a statement of completion after successfully passing this course. You can learn more about our non-credit programming on our website.
Who Should Attend:
You must:
- have a diploma or at least two years of completed post-secondary studies in architecture, engineering, urban planning, interior design, or a related program; or
- have a Journeyman Certificate of Qualification in a designated trade related to building construction; or
- be an engineer (or eligible for registration as an engineer); or
- be an architect (or eligible for registration as an architect); or
- have a minimum of five years of construction experience; or
- have an equivalent combination of lived experience and built environment knowledge.
Education and credentials awarded outside of Canada will be considered.

- $1,795
