Human Resources Intern, Human Resources & Organizational Development

Required Position

Full-Time one (1) year Term Appointment 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Human Resources and supporting various Human Resources functions, the Human Resources Intern maintains effective and efficient service delivery; provides information and assistance to the HR team; ensures compliance with processes, policies, procedures and collective agreements; creates and distributes various correspondence to internal and external stakeholders. 

Administrative Tasks 

  • Answer general information questions, opening and retrieving mail, receiving and transferring phone calls, creating and distributing documents and providing customer service; 
  • Perform a wide variety of clerical, technical, administrative and, office support; 
  • Provide support for the preparation of reports and information to support HR functions and decision making for academic and administrative matters; 
  • Assist with recruitment acitives e.g. job advertising, job posting, screening,interviewing, onboarding, etc.;
  • Assist with grievance management; 
  • Assist in the research and development of employment related policies, standards, etc.;
  • Assist with market surveys, job evaluations and development of compensation standards;
  • Provides support to Service Excellence and other HR team members as directed; 
  • Assist in the optimization of Laurentian's Human Resources Information Systems; 
  • Perform other related duties as required. 

Qualifications

  •  Computer skills (Word, Excel, Google Office experience an asset); 
  • Ability to work fluently (orally and in writing) in both official languages, French and English, is preferred for this role; 
  • Work independently (within HR Team) and work as a team member to do research.

 

The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
