Responsibilities
The Office of Francophone Affairs (OFA) oversees the development and influence of the Francophonie at Laurentian University. It fulfills this mandate within and beyond the University through numerous partnerships in the postsecondary realm in Ontario and Canada, as well as the regional and provincial associative sectors.
The manager performs some or all of the following duties under the supervision and at the request of the director:
- Prepare detailed working plans;
- Implement events in connection with the Action Plan for Official Languages 2023–2028: Protection-Promotion-Collaboration, in coordination with various University sectors and external organizations;
- Manage and assess projects and activities by collecting quantitative and qualitative data;
- Manage social media accounts, and provide regular updates;
- Support project reporting;
- Conduct research to develop new initiatives and partnerships;
- Attend meetings and conferences with regional partners;
- Collect and compile information and data, as required;
- Maintain ties with individuals and organizations involved in Ontario’s French-speaking community;
- Work in collaboration with Laurentian University support staff;
- Perform other tasks, as assigned.
Qualifications
- University degree four (4) years or appropriate equivalent qualifications,
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in administrative and financial management, project development and implementation, and community development;
- Fluency in written and spoken French and English (official languages);
- Excellent knowledge of the Ontario educational system and inclusive Francophonie in a minority setting;
- Excellent organizational skills and adherence to schedules and deadlines;
- Excellent teamwork skills;
- Ability to work independently;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
The official University hours of operation shall be from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, during, and including, the months from September to April, and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m Monday through Friday during and including May to August., amounting to thirty-three and three-quarter (33.75) hours per week.
