Dr. Emilie Pinard

Research Fellow for the Advancement of Francophone Research

Emilie Pinard, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the McEwen School of Architecture. She is interested in socio-cultural sustainability in architecture and collaborative design. Her work aims to study closely the modes of production and occupation of space, to support inhabitants' reflections on the future of their living environment and thus encourage a practice of architecture that is sensitive to its occupants. As part of her funded projects and as a co-investigator in major partnerships (SSHRC, North Sentinel, UNESCO), she has worked closely with communities to explore issues related to the dynamic relationships between people, culture and housing, as well as environments conducive to learning and the transmission of culture. She is currently undertaking a research program on residential and urban strategies to promote children's well-being in medium-sized cities.
