Biography

Associate professor at Laurentian University's School of Speech-Language Pathology and Speech-Language Pathologist for over 25 years, Michèle Minor-Corriveau has been working with students with reading and writing difficulties or performing research on this topic for the better part of the last 2 decades. Passionate about sharing best practices in reading and spelling instruction in French minority-language settings, she has co-founded and co-authored over 60 resources associated to AlphaGraphe, a scope & sequence for teaching the alphabetic principle in French. She has also co-authored the teaching resource Oral Language at your Fingertips (OSLA, 2014). She has also adapted Teaching Reading is Rocket Science (Moats, 2020) and Structured Literacy and Typical Literacy Practices (Spear-Swerling, 2018). Many French and English language school boards across Canada have solicited her expertise given her pragmatic approach to teaching reading and writing, along with her research on the topics of outcome measures and student achievement as they pertain to curriculum expectations, including but not limited to the mastery of French syntactic skills. In 2019 she was awarded with the Faculty of Health award for Excellence in Teaching.
