Research

Areas of research include analytical, numerical, and experimental characterization of composite structures, multifunctional materials, piezoelectric structures, and magneto-electro-thermo-elastic composites, experimental characterization of natural and biocomposites, biomimetics, design advanced durable and smart composite materials for mining industry, battery electric mine equipment, numerical simulation of static and dynamic behavior of underground mine support systems, energy harvesting from renewable energy sources, and additive manufacturing. Current research projects include: Design advanced smart composite materials/structures using numerical modeling and AI, and design and modeling battery pack using finite element modeling for improved battery safety for underground battery electric mining equipment.
